Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday said that no fresh proposal is currently under consideration for establishing a new health sub-centre at Chountwaliwar in Ganderbal district. Replying to an unstarred question by Mian Mehar Ali in the Assembly, the Minister In-charge of Health and Medical Education Department, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that one sub-centre at Chountwaliwar has already been sanctioned for the area. The government, however, clarified that at present there is no proposal for setting up an additional sub-centre at the location. It said a policy decision has been taken to consolidate and strengthen existing healthcare facilities across Jammu and Kashmir, which number over 4,000, by improving services, manpower, equipment and use of technology. The minister said the government is focusing on digital initiatives such as tele-medicine, tele-radiology and mobile medical units to ensure better healthcare delivery. He added that any decision regarding the creation of new health facilities will be taken after the withdrawal of austerity measures imposed by the Finance Department, and based on gap analysis. The government further informed that two health facilities—NTPHC Waliwar and Sub-Centre Chountwaliwar—are currently functional in the area, while Primary Health Centre Lar is located around four kilometres away, catering to the local population—(KNO)
